Stockpiling. That is all we are hearing in the news lately. Selfish, insensitive, greedy human beings piling food, drink and toiletries in their houses. And for what?
Maybe they think the person who invented toilet paper is going to say, 'You know what? I'm not selling toilet paper any more. Sorry, guys'.
Or maybe they are just heartless individuals who charge into the supermarket, collecting excessive amount because, you know, 'just in case'. Who knows?
But the thing that breaks my heart is how our society crumbles at the slightest inconvenience; maybe people think there might be a small food shortage because of the virus, but there's not! There is enough food in our country for everyone. Think about deprived people in less-privileged countries who are starving, malnourished and having walk three miles a day just to drink filthy water. Or what about the older generation, who walk into a shop with their weekly pension and find nothing on the shelves. Just standing there, in an empty aisle, wondering what they will eat tonight. Single parents or not so well off families, scraping by, trying to make a dinner for their kids with a tin of chickpeas and chopped tomatoes because that is all that's left - what about them?
So please, think before you buy, and help those in need as much as you can.
